A Fire Safety Report is a document containing detailed information for compliance of Fire-safety for a building (NZ Building Code C1 – C6). Protection from fire NZBC clauses C1 – C6 provide the code’s performance requirements for protection from Fire. There are three main objectives for fire-safety design:
LIFE SAFETY
Safeguard people from an unacceptable risk of injury or illness caused by fire
PROPERTY PROTECTION
Protect other property from damage caused by fire
FIREFIGHTING OPERATIONS
Facilitate firefighting and rescue operations
Clauses C2 – C6
Contain the requirements for achieving these objectives, by:

- Preventing the fire occurring (C2)
- Limiting fire spread (C3)
- Assisting the evacuation of Occupants (C4)
- Safeguarding Firefighters (C5)
- Maintaining Structural Stability (C6)
